My extremely talented illustrator friend, Tara Dougans, has been working on some pretty exciting projects of late. NOWNESS is currently featuring her recent work, commissioned for the final collections of seven of the graduates of the Antwerp Academy.

If you are unfamiliar with the Antwerp Academy, maybe you will recognize some names whose careers this elite academy has launched: Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela and Haider Ackermann.

Besides her meticulously hand-drawn pencil illustrations, Tara has also been experimenting with new media for her illustrations, which has led to her first foray into textile printing. She is fascinated by organic shapes, and has developed (and illustrated by hand) a fun and slightly silly mushroom print – seen here crafted on a white vintage cotton blouse.
