If there is one constant in fashion’s every-churning cycle of ‘what’s new’, it’s animal print. Classic, bold, and somehow reinvented every season, it’s safe to say it’s become the new neutral around which to build your look for day or night. When it comes to working it into your wardrobe, mixing and matching animal motifs with other prints and patterns is a given (I default to the Breton top/jeans/leopard-print flats or heels combo myself). So, what to do if you’re looking for a new challenge? How about following Valentina’s and Margaret’s leads by maxing out on animal prints-on-prints.

While not for the faint of heart, I think the key to pulling of their tricky look is to:

1. Wear prints in the same “family”. Complementary tones and patterns seem to work best.

2. Keep some optical safe zones on your person – solids colours will help to diffuse the overall effect.

3. Accessorize with an air of confidence – you can pull off almost any look with the right attitude!
