I love Erdem.  Like, LOVE.  Not in a fashion-y, air kisses kind of way, but in more of a visceral response to something that evokes sheer delight.  (I can’t describe it other than it being the same feeling behind the look friends have commented on when I’ve spotted cupcakes in the vicinity.  I have serious cake issues.  We’ll deal with those another time.)  Oh, and the fact that he’s Canadian means I’m deeply supportive of (read: heavily biased towards) anything done by anyone from my part of North America.

Erdem manages to use the elements that are typically associated with feminine dressing –  lace, florals, silk, chiffon – and transform them into romantic-yet-confident silhouettes.  There is nothing sugary-sweet about his beautiful craftsmanship and designs.  Women want to look beautiful, and Erdem makes it easy.  Everyone from Anna Wintour to Michelle Obama agrees.

I went to a showroom to see his SS11 collection up close and personal.  I adore the painterly prints (this is one of the skirts)…

…and I simply fell in love with these Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem shoes.
