Inside Rolls-Royce: Dream Cars and Driving
Ok, confession time: I’m a secret petrolhead. You probably can’t tell from my blog, but cars – from their design, to the growl of an engine – have captured my imagination ever since my dad took me to the SkyDome for my first car show when I was a little girl. So, when Rolls-Royce Motor Cars invited a handful of us last week to their factory in Goodwood, West Sussex, to explore their headquarters and test drive our choice of car, it was an easy yes.
The story of how Rolls-Royce came to be tells like rags-to-riches fairytale, but the history of this iconic British heritage brand is also about the present and future – innovation is one of their founding ideals, and continues to be their focus today.
The very-much handmade dream begins to come to life in the design process, which allows for endless customization. From matching the paint to your favourite fruit, to installing your preferred starry constellation on the ceiling of your car – the possibilities are truly endless. In the centre above: a pink Chanel lipstick brought in by a customer for a colour match request.
But the real Rolls-Royce experience comes in the driving. I was lucky enough to take the Wraith
for a spin, which I found to be the perfect balance between sporty agility and steady comfort.
I couldn’t pass up taking a rain-dappled selfie in the Wraith.
